News / Be Bold
“The wicked flee when no one is pursuing, but the righteous are bold as a lion.” Proverbs 28:1
Recently, in a time of prayer, I was reminded of this scripture. It rose up in my heart so strong, it seemed like a battle cry…“THE RIGHTEOUS ARE AS BOLD AS A LION!” The Holy Spirit began to impress upon my heart that NOW is the time to BE BOLD and take ground for the kingdom of God. I felt a sense of urgency knowing that Jesus is coming soon and the Lord has given us a unique window of opportunity. In Ephesians 6:19, Paul prays for “freedom of utterance…to be given me, that I may open my mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news.” Please understand that every time God gives us an opportunity, a promotion or uncommon favor, the purpose is to boldly share the good news of the Gospel.
This is not a time to draw back in fear! The secular world we live in tries to intimidate those who disagree with their lies. But Hebrews 10:39 says, “We are not of those who draw back and are destroyed, we are those who BELIEVE!” Here reveals the key to our boldness: FAITH IN GOD! Definitions of boldness include, “Courage; bravery; fearlessness.” In the midst of social pressure to conform to political correctness, we absolutely must refuse to be ashamed of the Gospel “for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” (Rom 1:16) Think about it. Those who don’t agree with God’s Word boldly proclaim their deceptions to all who will listen. But we know The Truth. Jesus said, “I am The Way, The Truth and The Life!” How much more should we boldly proclaim! But in stark contrast to the world’s angry outbursts, Ephesians 4:15 says we speak “the truth in Love.”
Please understand that this call to be a bold witness for Jesus is not just for those you see on the platform at church or for those who minister on TV. We don’t need to be famous for Him to use us. Before He returns, the last great revival will not be led and known by the names of men. It will be led and known only by His name, JESUS. He is teaching and preparing us right now for our part in that revival. For example, the Holy Spirit began instructing Christi and me so clearly where to go and who to share His Love within everyday places: the grocery store, during weekly appointments or the elderly woman named Ruby who was eating lunch alone and sitting across from us at a Cracker Barrel. It is exciting to allow the Lord to move in such extraordinary ways. We simply need to be willing and choose to be BOLD.
If we find that our boldness is lacking, then we need to go to the throne! Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then fearlessly, confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in good time for every need.” As we spend time in His presence (studying the Word and in prayer) we learn that His grace IS sufficient and His power enables us to do what we could not do without it. But He requires us to take the step. It’s time to be bold! He could prompt us at our work lunchroom to encourage a fellow coworker, to be kind to the sales clerk who seems to be having a very bad day or pay for a police officer’s meal. I’ll testify that it’s never boring serving God. It is a great faith adventure!
